TITLE:ML Teacher

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  South Carolina Certification

                                ESOL Add-On Certification

                                     

REPORTS TO:  Principal

 

JOB GOAL: To lead non-English speaking students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Is competent in subject area.
  1. Uses long and short-term planning to organize a program for each student.
  1. Plans daily activities with written evidence of preparation.
  1. Plans for student differences; enrichment and remediation opportunity provided at a variety of language levels.
  1. Provides for a high degree of pupil participation.
  1. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  1. Provides mainstream language support and collaboration with classroom teachers.
  1. Classroom rules/procedures clearly stated, consistently enforced, and well understood by all students.
  1. States lesson objectives clearly.
  1. Employs varied approaches in presenting lessons at a level of comprehension for the student.
  1. Summarizes the lesson and actively involves students in its closure when possible.
  1. Has a neat, attractive, and inviting classroom.
  1. Evaluates student progress on a regular basis; includes assessment in planning.
  1. Communicates high expectations for student success.
  1. Arranges for translators/interpreters for school conferences.

 

Personal Qualifications:  

  1. Maintains professional relationships with fellow teachers.
  1. Cooperates with the school administration.
  1. Provides opportunities for parent-teacher conferences.
  1. Keeps parents informed of their child’s progress at a level that can be understood by the parents
  1. Serves as a liaison between the school and the student’s parents.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  190 day contract.  Salary and work year to be established by the district (2022-2023). 

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
